Medical Director and Owner
Dr. Justin Eckenrode has come full circle in his journey to become a veterinarian. He is a 1999 graduate of Carlisle High School before attending Penn State University receiving his BS degree in Animal Bioscience in 2003. Justin then began work at the Carlisle Small Animal Veterinary Clinic in the summer of 2003 as a veterinary assistant.
During his time at the clinic, he attended Shippensburg University for his MS degree in Biology. After graduation in 2006 Justin attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine on the island of St. Kitts, West Indies. During that time, he was president of SVECCS (Emergency & Critical Care Club) and student representative for the Hill’s Pet Food Company. He then attended the Colorado State University School of Veterinary Medicine for his clinical year before receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in June 2010 and returning home to Carlisle.
Personal Hobbies & Interests
Justin's pets include two dogs (Colbie and Murray) as well as three cats (Darby, Mac and Goose). When he isn’t working, Justin’s interests include: training for triathlons (he is an Ironman!), running, and music. His wife, Jennifer, is also a veterinarian in Harrisburg, PA and they have two children, Annalie and Kellan.
