Veterinarian and Owner
Hi, I'm Dr. Lori Mathews, owner of Green Valley Veterinary Care. I’m originally from Massachusetts, where I completed my undergraduate education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. In 2004, I moved to the beautiful island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean to attend Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, completing my final year at Texas A&M in 2008.
After graduating, I moved to Williamsburg, Virginia, where I spent five years as an associate veterinarian at a busy family practice. I also gained experience in emergency care by working per diem on weekends at an emergency hospital. After five years, I transitioned into full-time emergency veterinary care, allowing me to further develop my skills in critical care, surgery, and ICU medicine.
Following eight years in Virginia, my husband and I, along with our two children, moved to Ohio to be closer to his family. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of veterinary hospitals and emergency care centers, refining my skills in soft tissue surgery, dental care, internal medicine, and ultrasound.
Favorite Part of my Job
The variety of cases I see keeps each day fulfilling and challenging. I particularly enjoy soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and using ultrasound to provide accurate diagnoses. Every interaction is an opportunity to make a difference in a pet's health and a family’s happiness.
Why I chose this profession
I’m driven by the opportunity to provide modern, high-quality care to pets and support families in the Troy community and surrounding areas. My goal has always been to deliver exceptional veterinary medicine by combining experience with compassion.
Personal Hobbies & Interests
In my free time, I love being with my family and pets. My hobbies include painting, knitting, and cycling, which provide a relaxing balance to my work in veterinary medicine.
