Dr. Pauline M. Koreyasu, DVM, grew up on the windward side of Oahu. As a young girl, she loved animals and was awed by the farriers as they worked on the horses at Kualoa Ranch. She attended Kahuku School from kindergarten through twelfth grade, graduating as valedictorian of her class. She furthered her education at Chapman College and the University of Hawai'i, graduating with honors with a Bachelors of Science in Education. Dr. Koreyasu attended graduate school at Colorado State University to earn her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine.
After graduation, she completed an internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York, New York. In Staten Island, New York, she began her first job at Richmond Valley Animal Hospital. Dr. Koreyasu returned home to Hawaii after a year and was employed at University Pet Clinic. After five years, she partnered with Dr. Gleason Hirata to open Kapalama Pet Hospital. And now, after 16 years of practice, Dr. Koreyasu brings her medical and surgical skills to Kaka'ako Pet Hospital, a veterinary hospital that became a reality after many years of planning. Along with these skills, Dr. Koreyasu offers a special interest in veterinary dentistry, acupuncture, and Chinese herbal medicine.
Dr. Koreyasu is a member of the Honolulu Veterinary Society and the Hawai'i Veterinary Medical Association. She is also licensed to practice in the state of Hawaii, California, Colorado, and New York.
