Veterinarian and Owner
Dr. Marianne Marshall-Gibson grew up caring for clients’ horses and assisting veterinarians at her parent’s 54-stall Hunter/Jumper and Dressage facility in the Chicago suburbs. She began riding at age six and later competed in hunters and equitation in USEF/USHJA shows. She continued competing in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association while earning her B.S. degree and graduating Cum Laude in Materials Science and Engineering-Biomaterials at the University of Illinois. She then moved to Colorado to pursue her M.S in Biomedical Sciences-Cancer Biology at the University of Colorado - Anschutz Medical Campus—where she also conducted human cancer research focusing on mechanisms of resistance to common therapies used to treat Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC) and Non-Small-cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC).
While earning her DVM at Colorado State University (CSU), Dr. Marshall-Gibson worked with members of the University's Equine Sports Medicine and Equine Orthopedic Research Team, developing her sports medicine and rehabilitation knowledge. In her 4th year at CSU she became certified in Veterinary Medical Acupuncture (cVMA).
After graduating from CSU in 2014, Dr. Marshall-Gibson completed a one-year rotating internship at Steinbeck Country Equine Clinic in Salinas, California, where she was trained by board-certified specialists in equine sports medicine & rehabilitation, surgery, internal medicine, and general equine practice.
Dr. Marshall-Gibson pursued her interest in the equine athlete by completing a Sports Medicine and Diagnostic Imaging Fellowship at Northwest Equine Performance in Mulino, Oregon. There she worked on a variety of horses, from the trail horse to Olympic and World Cup Athletes. During her fellowship, she became proficient in diagnostic radiography, ultrasound, Nuclear Scintigraphy (bone-scan), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and shockwave therapy. In addition, she was responsible for managing and treating the patients undergoing FP4 Multi-frequency Veterinary Laser therapy—at the time, the only such laser in the United States.
During her internship and fellowship, Dr. Marshall-Gibson completed training in Animal Chiropractic at the Animal Chiropractic Education Source (ACES) in Meridian, TX and is Certified in Animal Chiropractic (CAC) by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA).
Due to her interest in rehabilitation and performance medicine, Dr. Marshall-Gibson attended the Integrative Veterinary Medical Institute at the University of Florida and completed her Certification in Equine Rehabilitation and Performance Medicine (CERPM).
In her continuing pursuit of education and excellence in her field, Dr. Marshall-Gibson completed a 6 year residency in Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and became board certified by The American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation - Equine in March of 2024. She is the only female ACVSMR diplomate currently in private practice in Colorado and one of only 178 people in the world to have this credential.
Dr. Marshall-Gibson’s professional interests include Sports Medicine, lameness, diagnostic imaging (especially ultrasound), rehabilitation, acupuncture, chiropractic and laser therapy.
Dr. Marshall-Gibson is licensed in Colorado, Wyoming, California and Washington State. She has served as the on-site veterinarian for the Steamboat Springs PRCA Pro-Rodeo Series. She is a member of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (ACVSMR), American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), and the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA).
When not serving her Front Range Equine clients, Dr. Marshall-Gibson assists fellow veterinarians to grow their practice by providing rehabilitation and lameness consulting and Equine Performance Partnerships. She is also passionate about furthering the future of equine veterinary medicine through teaching and mentoring veterinary students and other veterinarians in diagnostic imaging and sports medicine diagnostics and techniques. She is eager to help equine athletes and her current and future colleagues whenever she can.
When she's not working with her patients, Dr. Marianne enjoys watching football, traveling, camping, hiking, and backpacking with her husband, Kyle, daughter Mackenna, and dogs, Abbey Ale and Amber Ale.
