Veterinarian
Dr. Jessica Cooke, along with her older brother, was born and raised in Terre Haute, Indiana. One could say that veterinary medicine runs in her blood. Both her mother and father are veterinarians, which meant that Dr. Jessica spent most of her life around animals and her parents’ veterinary hospital. As a child, Dr. Jessica earned her allowance by cleaning cages at the clinic. As she got older, she continued to work at Heritage; however, she took on additional responsibilities such as maintaining the kennels and boarding areas.
Dr. Jessica is a graduate of Terre Haute North High School. During her high school years she was actively involved in gymnastics. After high school, she made her way to Indiana University to pursue an undergraduate degree. She received her Bachelors in Biology in 2003. She continued her education at Purdue University, and received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Additional professional experience includes externships at the Indianapolis Humane Society and with exotic animal veterinarian, Dr. Todd Driggers, in Arizona. Dr. Jessica is also a proud member of the AVMA and IVMA. In the past, she has also dedicated her time to participate in the Big Brother, Big Sister program in her community.
In her free time, Dr. Jessica likes to spend time with friends and family. One of her favorite things to do to wind down after a long day is to snuggle on the couch with her two dogs. Possum is her Bull Terrier and Puppy is her Pit Bull mix. On a heartfelt side note, Puppy was a parvo-positive, abandoned puppy found by a family acquaintance. Dr. Jessica nursed Puppy back to health, and she’s been a happy dog living the good life ever since!
