Cierra Tabony DVM

Owner and Owner

Dr. Cierra Tabony received her doctor of veterinary medicine (DVM) degree from Purdue University in 2003. She later became certified in rehabilitation and pain management (CCRT) from the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in 2017 and certified in veterinary acupuncture (CVA) from the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society (IVAS) in 2019. She is a Fear Free certified practitioner since 2018. As a lifelong learner, she has a large breadth of knowledge and experience. She was honored to be voted one of Charlotte's top vets by her colleagues.

In 2011, Dr. Cierra Tabony purchased Indian Trail Animal Hospital from Dr. Rose and Dr. Glenn, excited to continue to expand services and quality veterinary medicine to area pets and families. With a focus on client service, quality medicine and the human-animal bond, the practice has enjoyed steady growth and was remodeled to add additional exam rooms and treatment space in 2019.

In 2013, Dr. Tabony opened Vet-REC: Veterinary Rehabilitation and Exercise Clinic of the Carolinas, a referral-based veterinary support team for physical therapy and rehabilitation needs of arthritic, neurologic, and post-operative pets. Services at Vet-REC now expand to include wellness services like massage, chiropractic, acupuncture and weight loss.

Favorite Part of my Job

It’s long been Dr. Tabony’s dream to operate a high-quality veterinary practice and make a difference in the community that she serves. She is thrilled to be doing just that right here in Union County!

While she enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, preventative healthcare and dentistry have become her passions. Acupuncture and TCVM (Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine) are additional tools in her toolbox of knowledge that can help both prevent as well as treat disease.

She also combines her passions of kids, learning, and veterinary medicine by organizing Vet Camps during the summer operated on the Indian Trail Animal Hospital and Vet-REC: Veterinary Rehabilitation properties.

Why I chose this profession

Dr. Tabony grew up on a horse farm in Indiana, influenced by family members in the dental and veterinary medicine professions. A lifelong animal lover that was also constantly curious about science, veterinary medicine was a great fit. Dr. Tabony’s drive to own practices came from her mission to provide the best care for pets and the best service for clients.

Personal Hobbies & Interests

Dr. Tabony is passionate about medicine, business, family and the outdoors. She is married and has 2 children as well as two rescue dogs, Pluto and Peanut.

Dr. Tabony leads an active life as a travel enthusiast, horseback rider, mountain biker, and lover of nature and the outdoors. When she must be inside, you’ll find her playing with her kids, reading, doing yoga, or enjoying the theater.

Philanthropy and giving back to the community are also important to Dr. Tabony – she is an autism advocate and likes to support organizations that help young children and their families.
