Veterinarian
Dr. Franklin grew up in Santa Barbara, attending a local grammar school and high school. She received her BS in Biology from the University of San Francisco. She graduated in 1993 from Washington State University & Oregon State University with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, which was a joint program, and received a degree from both colleges. She obtained her Masters in Wildlife Biology from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo in 1993. She received the `Small Animal Companionship Award’ and `Hill's Nutrition Proficiency Award’ while in veterinary college. You may remember Dr. Franklin’s weekly veterinarian question and answer column for all types of pets in the Santa Barbara News Press called `Critter’s Corner’, which ran for five years.
Favorite Part of my Job
Dr. Franklin inspires confidence and trust from her clients. Dr. Franklin’s appointments may take longer than you are used to, but that is because she is very thorough. She is an excellent diagnostician and it is her belief that wellness examinations will provide early detection of disease. Sensible and reasonable treatments are not only cost effective for her clients, but provide the best care for her patients. This extremely well-equipped hospital along with its excellent staff provides all the tools necessary to give the superior veterinary care that Dr. Franklin is known for.
Why I chose this profession
After graduation she worked at a local veterinarian hospital and then opened her own mobile practice. She continued this practice up until the birth of her daughter. She then closed the mobile practice and eventually began working only part-time at other hospitals in the area. After her daughter entered school, she decided to open her own practice. Over the years, Dr. Franklin has developed friendships with many of her clients and they urged her to open her own practice. So Your Pals Pet Hospital was born. It is named after Dr. Franklin’s cherished Dalmatian dog, Pal. Pal was a gift from her Mom when she was fourteen years old. Many of Dr. Franklin’s old friends remember Pal riding with Dr. Franklin in a blue VW bug on the way to the beach all through high school. He was her constant companion for seventeen years.
