Veterinarian
Hi, I'm Dr. Amy Morgenstern, one of the veterinarians at Briar Patch Veterinary Hospital.
I earned both my Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Animal Science (2007) and my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (2011) from Cornell University. After veterinary school, I completed a rotating internship at Valley Animal Hospital in Tucson, Arizona, gaining hands-on experience in shelter medicine, wildlife conservation, and emergency care. I’ve also completed externships at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, further expanding my experience in caring for numerous different species with different medical needs.
Before joining the team at Briar Patch Veterinary Hospital, I spent over a decade working at East End Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center Long Island, gaining valuable experience in emergency care.

Favorite Part of my Job
I have a strong interest in managing chronic pain and endocrine conditions, helping improve the comfort and quality of life for pets with long-term health challenges. It's incredibly rewarding to help pets live their best lives.
Why I chose this profession
Working with animals has always been my dream, so a career in veterinary medicine just made sense. I started working for a veterinarian at age 14 and quickly realized I’d found my calling. I love combining my passion for animals with science, and I find a lot of personal and professional fulfillment in helping pets feel better and watching them grow and thrive over the years under my care.
Personal Hobbies & Interests
Outside of the clinic, I enjoy hiking, gardening, and dog sports. I compete in scentwork with my two bloodhounds and agility with my energetic chihuahua mix. Really, no matter where I am, I'm probably with some animals!
