Alisha Kidwell DVM

Veterinarian

Hi! I'm Dr. Alisha Kidwell. I graduated from North Carolina State University in 2006 with a major in Animal Science and a minor in Zoology, and went on to earn my veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. I started my career in general practice in Cornelius, North Carolina, before transitioning to emergency medicine, where I gained extensive experience at high-volume facilities. In 2014, I joined Cabarrus Animal Hospital and helped develop their Urgent Care Hours.

My professional affiliations include the North Carolina Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, International Veterinary Association of Pain Management, and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. I am also proud to have completed the Soft Tissue Ultrasound Certification through the Sound Academy of Veterinary Imaging in 2022, which has allowed me to enhance my diagnostic capabilities in practice.

Favorite Part of my Job

While I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine, I have a special interest in ultrasonography, emergency medicine, endocrine emergencies, ophthalmology, and dermatology. I love discovering the unique connections families share with their pets, as each animal has its own personality and offers unwavering love and dedication. It’s incredibly rewarding to play a role in nurturing these bonds and providing the best possible care for every patient.

Why I chose this profession

I grew up immersed in the veterinary profession, with my mother working as a veterinary technician for over 30 years. My early exposure to the field—whether it was following veterinarians during farm visits, observing surgeries, or spending weekends at the hospital—instilled in me a deep passion for animal care. A career in veterinary medicine felt like a natural choice, and I have dedicated myself to this path ever since.

Personal Hobbies & Interests

Outside of veterinary medicine, I enjoy staying active through exercise and swimming, as well as spending quality time with my family and pets. I also love to read and am always looking to expand my knowledge, both professionally and personally.
