Is flea prevention needed year-round?

In San Diego, we need flea protection year around. We have fleas here all the time because it never freezes. It may depend on where you live, but for the most part, year-round prevention is the best way to go.

I would highly recommend it year-round. We don't see cold enough winters here for really anything to die off. And so we see them on your pets year-round here in the clinic, and so I would strongly recommend you keep them on prevention year-round.

Yes, unfortunately, because we have such beautiful weather here and we have a warmer climate, and that's why most people like to come and visit us and stay here. We do have fleas and ticks all year round. So yes, the preventatives are needed.

In areas with year-round flea and tick exposure, such as Tennessee, it is recommended that all dogs stay on year-round flea and tick prevention.
