History
Dr. Otto grew up on a family dairy farm in eastern Wisconsin. Her great, great grandfather moved to the homestead farm in the 1850s, and it remains in the family today. Surrounded by animals, Dr. Otto always wanted to be a veterinarian. Even at a young age, she confidently stated that she was going to be a veterinarian when she grew up. Since there were essentially no female veterinarians at that time, this career goal was usually met with considerable skepticism. Not deterred, she practiced her skills on animals around the farm with many barn cats sporting makeshift bandages.
Fortunately, times and attitudes change. After graduation from the University of MInnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Otto and her husband Tom Whitten (also a veterinarian) moved to the Glenwood City area where they were both associated with the St. Croix Valley Veterinary Clinic. Her husband was a partner in this practice and Dr. Otto was an associate veterinarian in the Baldwin office.
In 2010 Dr. Otto began working at Bobtown Pet Clinic. She purchased this practice in 2011. She has special interest in skin diseases and behavioral medicine. Dr. Otto is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, The Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, the American Association of Feline Practicioners and the Northwestern Wisconsin Veterinary Medical Association. She frequently attends conferences and seminars in order to stay well informed and to keep the practice updated with the latest information and technology.
