History
The hospital originally opened in 1973 in the Keller Court shopping center on Pacific Avenue 3/4 of a mile north of our current location as the Cat & Bird Hospital of Tacoma. The name was changed to Animal Hospital of Parkland in the early 1980s when the hospital was enlarged to allow room to add dogs and small exotics to the patient list. Doctor Petersen purchased the hospital in 1986, and the next year, we built and moved to a new, larger facility in the professional building next door. Over time and along with changes to our professional staff, we modified our scope of practice, and currently only see dogs and cats. This has allowed us to tailor our investment in equipment, facilities, and continuing education to those species only and provide a higher level of care. In 2011 we built the newer modern facility you will see at our current location.
We understand the special role your pet plays in your family and are dedicated to becoming your partner in your pet's health care. We will treat your pet as we would our own. Our goal is to practice the highest quality medicine and surgery with compassion and an emphasis on client education. Our entire healthcare team is committed to providing personal attention to the unique concerns of each individual pet owner.
