The word "paumanok" is a Native American word for Long Island and means "island in the shape of a fish." Our roots are from Long Island. We want to be part of the community, and our involvement with our community is diverse and wide, from helping young people to become more aware of careers in the veterinary medicine field to raising awareness of environmental issues. We sponsor several fundraisers over the course of the year.

Mission
We are passionate about developing a comprehensive and cooperative plan that encourages you to work with Paumanok as a team to help your pet to live a long and happy life. Whether this is a first visit for vaccinations, routine surgery such as spay or neuter, or something much more serious, maybe even life threatening, we will be with you, helping you to help your family pet and helping you to make both the simple and difficult decisions. Our goal is to foster a trusting and lifelong relationship.

Since opening for business in 1992, husband and wife veterinarian teamDr's Dee and David Hensen have been proactively involved in raising funds for various causesand to date, they are very proud to state that the Paumanok Veterinary Hospital, P.C. has raised over $68,000. Dr's Dee and Dave believe in passing on the good fortune that they have received, and so community service in many forms is an integral part of the Paumanok Veterinary Hospital, P.C. philosophy.
