History

New Hartford Animal Hospital first opened its doors in 1978 under the direction of Dr. Frank Mondi, a graduate of the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. At that time, most pet owners visited their veterinarian only if their pet was sick. During the ensuing years, veterinary medicine began to change to preventive care and pet owners needed services that would complement veterinary medicine. Dr. Mondi built a 10,000 sq ft addition to the original hospital and called it the Care Center. The Care Center affords boarding, grooming, pet foods and supplies. As veterinary medicine continued to grow, the hospital and its staff continued to grow as well. Dr. Mondi was joined by Dr. Gregory Jamrosz in 1994, a graduate of New York State Veterinary Medical College at Cornell University. Dr. Abby Regner, a graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University and the Chi Institute, joined the practice in 2012, Dr. Dana Elbrecht, a graduate of The Ross School of Veterinary Medicine, joined the practice in 2014, Dr. Sandra Murphy, a graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University, joined the practice in 2017, Dr. Sean Gaw, a graduate of Tufts University joined the practice in 2017 and Dr. Erin Murphy, a graduate of University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine joined the practice in 2018. Dr. Regner is a certified small animal and equine acupuncturist. With the addition of Dr. Regner, New Hartford Animal Hospital offers an integrative approach to medicine, combining Eastern and Western philosophies, to preserve and promote health and speed recovery from illness. Today, as an AAHA and NYSVMS accredited hospital, New Hartford Animal Hospital offers a wide variety of preventive health care programs, highly skilled medical and surgical services, complete in-house diagnostic testing as well as veterinary supervised boarding and grooming services.
