Location & Areas We Serve
History
Hudson Highlands Veterinary Medical Group was established in 1971 by Dr. John Whitefield, who at that time held office hours and performed surgery at our Beacon office. As our client base expanded and the reputation of Dr. Whitefield grew, we opened a second location on Route 82 in Hopewell Junction in 1978.
Dr. Whitefield's dream for Hudson Highlands was to expand to include a specialty practice. In 2004, that dream was realized when we opened our newly renovated 11,000 square foot facility on Lime Kiln Road. Sadly, Dr. Whitefield died the same month as the opening, but it was enough for him to provide a "home" for his family and to enjoy the fulfilling feeling that the last piece of his professional dream was finally realized.
Dr. Twila Whitefield (Dr. John's wife) and the dedicated staff at Hudson Highlands Veterinary Medical Group have continued to carry on the legacy and tradition of veterinary excellence since Dr. John's death.
Hudson Highlands Veterinary Medical Group reflects the best that veterinary medicine and technology has to offer. We incorporate modern, state-of-the-art equipment, exam rooms, pharmacy, laboratory, and other medical assets into a facility that promotes a calm, home-like atmosphere for our clients and their pets. Our surgical suites are equipped with the most up-to-date surgery, anesthesia and monitoring technology available. Essentially we have brought our hospital's resources to the point where they are similar in quality to any that would be found in a human hospital.
In order to provide a superior level of veterinary care, we place great importance on hiring only the most highly trained and compassionate veterinarians and veterinary technicians. The entire medical team at Hudson Highlands Veterinary Medical Group is up-to-date and on the cutting-edge of veterinary dentistry, anesthesia, surgery and medicine. Every member of our staff undergoes continuing education and we also provide structured training programs for new employees.
Hudson Highlands Veterinary Medical Group is a general service practice with seven dedicated doctors and a board-certified specialist. Our surgery department is led by our surgery specialist, Paul S. McNamara, DVM, DACVS. Dr. McNamara is board certified in veterinary surgery and a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. He is one of only approximately 400 board-certified veterinary surgeons in the world.
Because of our commitment to quality care, pet owners have come to rely on us as a compassionate, skilled and cost-conscious partner in the care of their beloved companions. We invite you to call or stop by to visit. Our veterinary staff of dedicated professionals is available to answer your questions regarding your pet's heath care. We look forward to providing your special family member with primary veterinary care, advanced treatment, or a second opinion.
We are an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association.
