History
Intermountain Pet Hospital was founded in 1975 by Dr. Phil Volkman and Dr. Terry Smith, primarily as a large animal practice in Meridian, Idaho. It's ownership-changed hands in 1983 as it was purchased by Dr. Bob Beede who moved to the Treasure Valley from Hailey, Idaho. He grew the practice into a well-known referral center for llama medicine and small animal care, which required the services of 3 additional veterinarians in just a few short years. As the valley continued to grow, the need for small animal medicine increased and in 1996 Dr. Beede converted his practice to a small animal only hospital. Dr. Beede was very progressive and invested in the latest technologies and treatments while providing the highest quality medical care to every patient that came through the door. His genuine love and compassion for all pets and their families inspired his staff and all those who knew him.
Dr. Bingham Joins the Team
In 2001 Dr. Brett Bingham joined Intermountain Pet Hospital as an associate veterinarian. His desire was to provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care to his patients while treating his clients like family. He partnered with Dr. Beede in 2007 and purchased the remainder of the practice in 2017. Dr. Beede retired that same year leaving a wonderful legacy of compassionate care for each patient he treated at IPH.
IPH Continues to Grow
2003: Intermountain Pet Hospital was remodeled converting the small 2000 square foot hospital into a 15,000 square foot hospital with a premier grooming and boarding facility. This design was awarded Hospital Design of the year. Doggy day camp was introduced in 2009 further expanding their services.
2012: IPH earned their first official AAHA (American Animal Hospital Association) accreditation. To date, both Overland and Chinden hospitals have remained current in meeting the strict standards of AAHA.
2013: A small remodel added 500 additional square feet for 2 additional medical rooms dedicated to ultrasound imaging and special procedures such as endoscopy.
2015:Intermountain Pet Hospital opened its second location on Chinden, between Locust Grove and Meridian. This new location made it more convenient for pet parents in North Meridian, Eagle, and West Boise. That same year IPH was awarded the Small Business of the Year by the the Meridian Chamber of Commerce.
2019: Our Overland location began and completed a hospital-wide remodel.
2020: Intermountain Pet Hospital buys Middleton Veterinary Hospital as Dr. Robert Hall retires.
2021: The original Middleton Veterinary Hospital building is torn down and new construction begins on a brand new Intermountain Pet Hospital.
