Share a few sentences about your professional background and what drew you to GeniusVets.

I started out in the real estate industry after graduating from UNC Wilmington in 2017. I provided marketing and administrative support for a small firm in Lake Norman, NC. In 2021, I decided to follow my passion for pets and pursued a career in veterinary medicine. I worked in reception at a few animal hospitals but still wanted to find a way to combine my marketing and communication skills with my love for pets and helping others. This is what led me to GeniusVets - I was thrilled to find a company founded by a DVM that is dedicated to helping both veterinary practices and pet owners.

What do you love about your role? If you're new to the team, what drew you to this specific role?

What drew me to this specific role was the flexibility, the people, and the mission. I had been looking for a remote position that would allow me the freedom to live wherever I’d like and I was also looking for a company comprised of people with integrity who are dedicated to helping others.

Passions or hobbies outside of work

Outside of work, I have a passion for all things nerdy. I’m a big Lord of the Rings fan so I will sometimes attend conventions, trivia nights, etc. I also enjoy video games. I have been a dancer for 20+ years so I like dancing with friends or taking classes whenever I can.

What's the best advice you've ever gotten?

I was once told “hurting people hurt people” and that stuck with me. You have to remember that when others may bring you down, they usually have their own battles they are fighting that results in the negative behavior.

Do you have any hidden/unique talents?

I wouldn’t say this is a talent but I was born without a few permanent, adult teeth. I have a retainer with two fake teeth on the bottom so sometimes I pop them out as a weird party trick.

What is one thing you've done that most people have likely never experienced?

I have auditioned for Disney Channel.

What's a personal or professional accomplishment thtat you're really proud of?

While in college, I became a Certified Public Access Trainer for Service Dogs with paws4people.

Do you have any funny animal encounter stories?

I used to live in an apartment complex where raccoons would steal trash outside - the babies became very friendly and I learned that they really loved Bojangles leftovers!

On a Sunday morning, you'll find me…

Cuddled up with my dog Aela, reading a book or playing video games with some candles lit. Love a cozy Sunday!
